Fà a Mód Concept
Concept website I designed and developed for an artisan bottega in Modena.

The story
Fà a Mód is Modenese dialect for "the Modena way," and that phrase tells you everything about the bottega. Before writing any code I spent time absorbing the identity: the name, the food, the feeling of a place that does things traditionally and means it. The result is the kind of site that could go live with almost no changes.
Tradition, presented like today
Their Instagram showed a clear balance: Modenese food tradition on one side, a clean, minimal, black-and-white look on the other. The site had to hold both, warm and rooted but elegant and quiet, with the food and the wine at the centre. I wrote it down as a design system first: the identity, who visits and why, the colours and the type, before any code.
- #FAFAFAoff-white, softer than pure white, like a printed menu
- #1A1A1Aanthracite, for text: contrast without the harshness of black
- #D4AF37muted gold, for prices, badges and details: the colour of egg pasta and tortellini
- #F3EFE8warm paper, for alternate sections
- headings and dish names: classic, editorial
- Cormorant Garamond
- body text and buttons: clean, to balance the serif
- Jost
- small labels
- DM Mono
Designed for the link in bio
Most visitors arrive from the link on Instagram, on a phone, wanting one of three things: the menu, a table, the address. So the site is mobile first, and the booking button never leaves the screen. The menus are real text, not a PDF to download, split into tabs for aperitivo, lunch, dinner and wine, and the prices are bare numbers, aligned to the right, as on their own stories.
A bottega told by scrolling
The page is built as a story you scroll through rather than a stack of boxes. Sections pin in place and the next one slides over them, a thin bar tracks how far you are, and the whole page scrolls smoothly.
- 1
The welcome
A full-bleed hero that stays pinned while the next section slides up over it.
- 2
The manifesto
One sentence about what eating well means in Modena, revealed word by word as you scroll, with a few words lighting up in gold.
- 3
Who we are
The bottega and the people behind it, next to an image that stays in place and moves slowly as you read.
- 4
The menus
The four menus in tabs, then how to book and where to find them.
